Roberta "Bert" Priest Greene

Roberta "Bert" Priest Greene, 73, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at her residence.

She was born in Dillon County, SC, on April 1, 1951, to the late George Owens, Jr. and Carletha Priest Owens.

Roberta was of the Baptist faith and had a servant's heart.  She loved her family, friends, and everyone she came in contact with.  She enjoyed homemade cooking, baking, horticulture activities and deep-sea fishing and various sports such as softball, baseball, football, and volleyball.

Roberta was not only a loving mother, sister, and friend, she also dedicated her time as a registered nurse, youth counselor and a social worker advocate for special needs children and created some of the most beautiful floral arrangements as a florist.

Her deeds also extended thru one of her great passions, cooking.  She would cook and prepare meals for family and friends and just anyone who wanted a meal in general.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by James Greene, Jr (husband), Antonio Tony Greene (son), Latoya Louise Greene (daughter), Emmanuel Owens (brother), Darletha Owens and Coleen Owens (sisters).

Roberta is survived by Barbara Ann Greene (daughter) and Tony Werts (son-in-law) of Gastonia, NC,  Inez Owens (great aunt) of Charlotte, NC,  Helen Owens Manning (great aunt) of Dillon, SC, Charles Owens (brother) and Judy Owens (sister-in-law) of Lumberton, NC, Tommy Owens (brother) of Lumberton, NC, David Owens (brother) of Goldsboro, NC, Della Owens (sister) of Raleigh, NC, Margeretta Owens (sister) of Kansas, Mary Owens (sister) of Goldsboro, NC, Kisha Owens (sister) of Maxton, NC, Brittany Greene (granddaughter) of Gastonia, NC, Imon Greene and Amari Greene (great grandchildren) of Gastonia, NC, with a host of nephews, nieces and a multitude of truly wonderful friends.

Roberta will be greatly missed by all of those who had the good and blessed fortune to know this beautiful, loving, caring, strong and courageous woman. A forever light that will always burn bright for eternity.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Della Owens, will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, 5:00 PM, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 5:00 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
