It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert "Doc" Taylor, age 76, who left this world on April 25, 2026. He was born on May 9, 1949, in Gaston County, son of the late James Earl Taylor and Helen Warlick Taylor. Doc dedicated his life to the service of others, notably as an educator in the Cleveland County School System, where he touched the lives of countless students and his colleagues.
Doc graduated from Western Carolina University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree, instilling a love for learning that would guide him throughout his life. After a fulfilling career in education, he retired from the Cleveland County School System, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge, compassion, and inspiration.
In his personal life, Doc found joy in the simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, an enthusiastic golfer, and a devoted puzzle solver who cherished the serenity of walking in nature. He had a gentle spirit and a warm smile that would light up any room, making him a beloved figure among friends and family.
Doc is survived by his sons, Matthew Trent Taylor Sr. (Jennifer), Jason Ryan Taylor; grandson, Matthew Trent Taylor Jr. (Mayson); great-grandchildren, Faelynn Monroe Taylor, Brantley Jack Payne; partner, Jackie Broome; sisters, Ann Burleson, Linda Ellhins (Nathan), Darlene Lynhart (Ronnie), Debbie Carpenter; stepchildren, Eric Broome, Stephanie Morehead (Bryant), Michelle Jones (Matt); numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1-2 pm Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia. The funeral service will be follow at 2:00 pm , officiated by Pastor Scott Rudisill. The burial will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.
The pallbearers will be Matt Taylor, Jason Taylor,Trent Taylor, Eric Burleson, Tim Bess, Greg Laye, Matt Jones, Eric Broome.
His love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him most, especially his family and friends. In this time of grief, we hold onto the memories of Robert "Doc" Taylor-a remarkable man whose kindness and passion for life will never be forgotten.
