Robert Eaton Sokol

Robert Eaton Sokol, 79, born December 5, 1943.

He transitioned February 27, 2023, at his home in Gastonia, NC. He was married to Dorothy Louise Gourdine.

Robert (Bob) was a creative home designer, wood sculpturer, artist, publisher of poetry (Amazon), gardener, and father of two sons. His employment started with his first wife, who were owners of a playground equipment company in Gainesville, Florida. He went on to become a salesperson in various fields: telephone, life insurance, cars sells and a light company. He moved to Atlanta Georgia metro area to start his own lighting company. While in Atlanta, he became a general contractor and expanded his interest exclusively into designer work.

Bob was educated at Oakwood Friends School, a private Quaker boarding school in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. While there he excelled in wrestling and baseball, where he won several awards.

He graduated from Santa Fe Junior College in Gainesville, Florida.

Bob was born in Unadilla, N.Y., to the late Oscer Sokol and Frances Fieder Sokol.

He is survived by his two sons. Trebor Sokol and his wife Teresa of Jacksonville, Florida and their family - Cheryl Marie Williams and husband Alonzo Williams (and their children, Annabelle Williams, AJ Williams, and Alice Williams), Sydney Sokol, Christopher Sokol, and Nicholas Sokol. Adam Kenny Sokol and his wife Jessie of Oklahoma and their children, Ava, Elaina, and Claire Kenny.

He has two sisters, Dorothy Anne Sokol, of Unadilla, N.Y.  and Jeanne Elizabeth Sokol Morris, and her husband, Robert, of Tennessee and their three children, Dr. Joseph Morris and his wife Kelly (their children Libby and Will); Virginia Rose, Joseph Hughes, and Star. His two brothers, Carl Sokol and his life partner, Grace Cheung-Schulman of California, and Carl's son, Sage Sokol-Lanting; Albert Sokol, Esq. and his wife, Marianna, of Massachusetts and their two sons, Peter Sokol-Hessner, PhD. and wife, Francenie, and Lauge Sokol-Hessner, MD.

Robert was a member of HeartLight Spiritual Center of Charlotte, North Carolina.
