Robert Dean "Pumpkin" Hayes, 55, of Dallas, passed away May 6, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born September 18, 1959 a native of Gaston County, the son of Louise Cook and the late Robert Albert Hayes. Robert was a former employee of Gaston County Dye in Mt. Holly. Left to cherish his memories along with his mother, are his wife, Shirley Hayes; step-sons, Jesse Morton and wife, Angie, Mark Hall and wife, Shetal; sister, Tina Hayes; grandchildren, Bobby Morton III, Megan Shore who was his favorite granddaughter, who loved her grandpaw dearly and her husband, Stephen, Madison, Mallory and Mason Morton, Calan and Gavin Hall. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brothers, Reggie, Rodney and Randy Hayes. A memorial service will be held 2 pm Saturday at Green Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Robert Ammons. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
