Robert Mcbee

Mr. Robert (Bob) or (Bobby) Lance McBee, 69, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC.

He was born July 8, 1946, in Gastonia, the second to the youngest of ten children, to the late Fred and Dorothy Dorthea Dedmond McBee.

Bob was a graduate of Frank L. Ashley High School class of 1964. He continued his education and earned his degree in business from Gaston College. He spent a career of 50+ years in the grocery/ retail business with the majority of that time with Winn Dixie on South York Road. He grew up worshipping and teaching Sunday school at South Gastonia Church of God; he traveled to Trinidad and Tobaga on mission trips in his younger days. He was a loving husband, father to 3 children, and a grandfather to 5. He never met a stranger.

Survivors of Bob include his wife of 47 years, Wanda McElveen McBee; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Scott Humble of Greensboro, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Tina McBee of Gastonia, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Sheree' and Travis Anglin of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Tyler and Justin Humble, Nate and Alley McBee, and Alex Chaney; siblings, Billie Payne, Larry McBee and wife, Maggie, Irene Hardin and husband, Ray, Pat McBee and wife, Cora (Louise); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Jenkins, J.B. McBee, Gail Bell, Buster, and Danny McBee.

The family will receive friends 6-9pm on Monday, June 13, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Rd., Gastonia.

A funeral service will be held at South Gastonia Church of God Tuesday, June 14, at 2pm, officiated by Pastors Bobby Gilley and Sam Barnett.

Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park.
