Robert Grier Smith

Robert Grier Smith, 76, of Gastonia passed away December 19, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born February 1, 1937 in Gaston County, son of the late Tom P. and Annie Mae Wray Smith. A service of remembrance will be held 2:30 pm Sunday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052 officiated by Pastor Robert Ammons Jr. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:15 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, who loved photography and working on his computer. He loved his church family at Liberty Baptist Church where he was a member. Mr. Smith is survived by: his loving wife of 29 years, Betty Wages Smith; daughter, Rhonda Thomas and husband Dennis of Fayetteville; brothers, Dean Bradley, Bill Davis; sister, Jean Campbell; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his grandson, Bradley Thomas; sons, Christopher Edward Wages, Randall Lee Wages. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1001 W. Second Ave. Gastonia, NC 28052.
