Robert "Luke" Gibby, 22, of Bessemer City, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021.
He was born April 6, 1998, son of Shawn K. Gibby and Samantha D. Gibby.
He was a member of First Assembly of God in Gastonia.
Luke was a student at Appalachian State University where he was majoring in business.
He was a graduate of Bessemer City High School where he played varsity football and baseball.
He loved being a Yellow Jacket!
He was in the National Technical Honor Society and was a member of the Beta Club.
Luke loved watching Panthers football and Atlanta Braves baseball.
His personality was larger than life, and he loved making people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jim Dingus.
Left to cherish his memories, in addition to his parents, are his paternal grandparents, Bobby and Kathy Smith; maternal grandmother, Glenda Dingus; fiancée, Taylor Jackson of Cherryville; brother, Davis Gibby and girlfriend Savannah Croft of West Virginia; sister, Mallory Gibby of the home; aunt and uncle, Lisa and Steve Fain; cousins, Jacob, Drew, and Makenna Fain who were like brothers and a sister to Luke; uncle, Danté Gibby; and cousin, Civanna Gibby.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 23 at First Assembly of God, 777 S. Myrtle School Rd., Gastonia.
The service will be officiated by Pastor Dennis Boyce, Rev. Daniel Haskett, and Rev. Steve Fain.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Monday at the church.
Interment will be in Westview Gardens.
