Robert Matthew Eckard

Robert Matthew Eckard, 45, Son of Brenda Rhodes and late Bobby Eckard, brother to Jennifer Faircloth and Shane Faircloth, Uncle to River Faircloth, Luke Faircloth, and Allie Faircloth. Native of S Gastonia and the world's "Wildman", passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, after a courageous battle, with good looks and charm.

Matt was a famous comedian, actor, media personality, private counselor, and blues vocalist who rose to prominence after his appearance in the 1999 documentary "Sweet Home Gastonia". He was known for his energetic style, charismatic persona, and determination of a WILDMAN! Many consider Matt as an "icon of the community" with his energetic spirit offering nothing but love & happiness.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 12:00 prior to the service. A burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
