It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Big Mac" Cable, Sr.on July 28, 2026, a beloved father, brother and friend, whose passion for life inspired those around him. His family will forever cherish the memories of his joyful spirit and unwavering support.
Born on April 5, 1956 ,with an innate appreciation for speed and skill, Big Mac's love for cars and drag racing defined much of his life. As a dedicated member of Team R Racing, he found camaraderie and joy in the thrill of competition, often sharing tales of the racetrack that lit up the faces of those who listened. His enthusiasm for anything that roared to life with horsepower was infectious, drawing many into his world of automotive wonders.
Above all, Big Mac was a family man. His devotion to his loved ones knew no bounds, and he took great pride in every moment spent together, always creating adventures that bridged generations. He will be profoundly missed, not only for the laughter he brought but for the warmth and love he shared so generously.
Big Mac Is survived by his stepdaughter, Jennifer; his brothers, Jimmy Lynn (Betty), Jeff Lynn (Cynthia), Gene Cable (Teresa); grandchildren, Kellen and Saylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred "PeeWee" Cable and Gerry Phillips Cable; his son, Robert "Little Mac" Cable Jr.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Friday, August 7, 2026, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, officiated by Jeff Lynn, with the urn bearer being Clyde Cable. The family will receive friends 3-4 pm prior to the service.
Friends and loved ones are invited to join in remembering a man who truly lived life in the fast lane and brought joy to all who had the privilege to know him.
