Robert Lee Abernathy

Robert Lee Abernathy, 79, of Lincolnton, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center. Son of the late Fred Calvin Abernathy and Mary Bea Finger Abernathy, he was born December 26, 1935 in Gaston County, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Roxie Earney; grandson, Matthew Earney; and sister, Betty Caldwell. Mr. Abernathy is survived by his son, Robbie Lee Abernathy; daughter, Lori Williams and husband, Kenneth; twin brother, Benny Abernathy and wife, Joyce; brother, Miller Abernathy and wife, Anna; sisters, Carolyn Fisher and husband, Lloyd, Judy Helms; former wife, Martha Abernathy; and grandchildren, Robbie Lee Abernathy, Jr. and Nicki Earney. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor D. R. Shortridge, will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
