Rita Kanipe Mcdaniel

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Kanipe McDaniel, who left us on February 21, 2025, just days shy of her 72nd birthday. Rita was a beloved mother, cherished friend, and a source of comfort and joy for all who knew her. Her warmth and kindness touched many lives, leaving a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

She was born February 27, 1953, in Gaston County to the late John William Kanipe and Viola Mathis Kanipe.

Rita was a member of Ragan Wesleyan Church in Gastonia.

She loved her family and cherished their family gatherings.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Ragan Wesleyan Church 535 Oates Road Gastonia, officiated by Pastor John Harper.

The burial will follow at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday, February 28, 2025, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia.

Rita is survived by sons, Shane Kanipe, Chris McDaniel (Brooklyn); daughters, Christina McDaniel, Shana McDaniel; sisters, Myra Stillwell (Glenn), Lisa Myers; grandchildren, Raven Kanipe, Chloe Kanipe, Hannah Kanipe, Emma Kanipe, Alex Painter, Nolan McDaniel, Dalton McDaniel, Charleigh McDaniel, Martie Linfield, Georgia Linfield; great-grandchildren, Ezra Bradley, Holden Zuniga.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marty McDaniel; brother, Danny Parton.
