Ricky Jason Rankin

Ricky Jason Rankin, a beloved member of the Gastonia community, passed away peacefully from natural causes on September 14, 2025, at the age of 47. Born on February 2, 1978, in Gastonia, NC, Ricky was a lifelong resident who brought his creativity and dedication to his work as a painting contractor. He was known for his attention to detail and his passion for transforming spaces.

Ricky is survived by his cherished daughter, Faith Whisnant (Jeremy); beloved son, Ricky Jason Rankin II; brothers, Rodney Rankin (Angie), Robert Rankin; sister, Michelle Benton (Richard); grandson, Sawyer Whisnant; mother, Linda Whitesides; Jason's mother, Misty Rankin; Faith's mother, Lucy Rankin; several nieces and nephews; close friends and mentors, Roy and Doris Postell. His kindness and infectious spirit touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ricky attended Southside Baptist Church in Gastonia. He enjoyed going to the racetrack and Camping with his son Jason. Most of all, he loved and adored his kids.

Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance at a memorial service that will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church, located at 530 Bethany Road, Gastonia, NC. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, also at the church. Ricky's final disposition will be cremation, with arrangements made at 5002 S York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rankin; stepfather, Buck Whitesides; sister-in-law, Angie Rankin.
