Rickey Edward Lovingood

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rickey Edward Lovingood, beloved husband, father, and friend, who departed this life on January 16, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on May 22, 1951, in Gaston County North Carolina, Rickey dedicated his life to serving his country and his community.

Rickey proudly served in the Special Forces during the Vietnam War, a testament to his courage and commitment to duty. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a supervisor in state transportation. His work ethic and dedication to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

A devoted member of Westview Baptist Church, Gastonia, Rickey served as a deacon and exemplified Christian kindness to all. He was known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends. His love for his wife, Renea Lovingood, and his commitment to his family were the hallmarks of his life.

Rickey is survived by his wife, Renea Lovingood; children, Angela Davis (Jerry) and Rickey "Eddie" Lovingood II (Cheryl); sisters, Rita Ferguson and Ann Helms (J.W.); grandchildren, Marty Lovingood and Justin Lovingood; who, alongside many other family members and friends, will forever cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, providing a time for loved ones to gather and honor Rickey's life. A visitation will take place the evening prior, on January 20, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, also at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, allowing friends and family to pay their respects. Following the service, Rickey will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park.

Rickey Edward Lovingood will be remembered for his bravery, compassion, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy of kindness will continue to inspire those he touched.

Rickey was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Dorothy Lovingood; his brother Randall Lovingood.
