Richard Lee Wright, 82, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his residence.

A native of Gaston County, he was born on October 23, 1942, to the late Jess and Mildred Wright.

Richard was a member of Maylo United Methodist Church in Ranlo. He retired from Freight Liner in Mt. Holly after 20 years of service. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved his family, and he loved fishing. He was world famous for his home-made jerky.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Mauney Wright; daughters, Cathy Gaye Dawkins (Duane), Leigh Ann Ellis (Matt); brother, Wade Wright (Sally); five grandchildren, Michael Culbertson (Jennifer), Emiliy Schrader (Noah), Clayton Dawkins (Gina), Noah Ellis, Owen Ellis; six great-grandchildren, Shyann Culbertson, Brooks Dawkins, Mason Suite, Jubilee Schrader, Eden Schrader, Saleh Schrader.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Mark Etchison, will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, 3:00 PM at Maylo UMC, 1900 Spencer Mtn, Rd. Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
