Richard John Teumer, 87, died August 29, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Born in New York he was the son of the late John and Lissi Teumer. He worked as a port steward for Pan American Airways. He was a volunteer fireman in Islip Terrace, NY proudly serving with Engine Co. 3 as their dedicated treasurer for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking and cooking. He was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
His loving family already misses him. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hilda, his daughter, Nancy Fliehler and grandson, Daniel, both of Oak Park, IL, also his son, Rick and daughter-in-law, Doris and granddaughter, Sarah, all of Kannapolis, NC. Predeceasing Richard was his sister, Ingrid Teumer.
The family would like to thank the CaroMont staff, Gaston Hospice, Amedisys Home Health and especially Pastor Brack, Pastor Jason and the members of Holy Trinity. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Care Ministry. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The South Chapel of Greene Funeral Services and Crematorium, Gastonia, is serving the family.
