Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Richard Lynn Jackson, who left us on June 27, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on July 22, 1954, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, Richard was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, skilled fixer in the textile industry, and avid carp fisherman who brought joy and laughter to those around him.

Richard spent many days working at Fluf's carp lake, where he shared his passion for fishing with friends and family. He was known for his easygoing nature, love for the outdoors, and unwavering dedication to his family. Richard made countless cherished memories with his loved ones, always prioritizing the importance of family bonds.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 54 years, Kathy Jackson; children, Journey Carpenter, Sabrina Carpenter, and Jacob Carpenter; grandchildren, Cameron Carpenter and Felix Neff; brother, James Jackson; sister, Carolyn Van Dyke.

Richard was preceded in death by parents, William and Mildred Jackson; children, Barry Wilson and Billy "Bubba" Wilson; brother, Charles Jackson; sister, Brenda Sanders.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Richard's life through a funeral service that will take place at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 am. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation held at the same location starting at 10:00 am. Richard will be laid to rest at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
