Richard "Dickie" George, Jr.

Richard "Dickie" George, Jr., 69, of Gastonia, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

He was born on November 1, 1951, in Gaston County, to the late Richard Elvis George, Sr. and Patricia Ann Braswell.

Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy. He loved his family dearly. Richard never met a stranger. He loved hunting, fishing, and going to the beach.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his son, Richard Derrick George; and stepdaughter, Donna Hiland.

Left to cherish Richard's memories are his wife of over 29 years, Deborah Hawkins George;  daughter, Fawn George Helfgott and husband Corey; brothers, David George and wife Barbara, Tommy George, Timmy George and wife Darlene, and Jeffery George; sister, Dereama George Ruffin and husband Travis; and 8 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S York Rd., Gastonia, NC, 28052.

All other services will be private.

The South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium is assisting the family.
