Rhonda Sue Hudson

December 13, 1961 — July 21, 2025

Rhonda Sue Hudson, age 63, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025. Born on December 13, 1961, in North Carolina, she filled the lives of many with love, joy, and kindness throughout her time with us.

Rhonda was a devoted member of Emmanuel Freewill Baptist Church in Dallas, NC. Her big heart led her to volunteer at Dallas High Shoals Christian Ministry, where she founded the "Hope for the Homeless" initiative, making a real difference in her community. A former teacher at Tabernacle Christian Academy, she had a passion for educating young minds and inspiring them to reach for their dreams.

She had a special love for Paparazzi Jewelry, always sharing her finds with friends and family. But the titles she cherished most were those of wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Rhonda doted on her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Nanny."

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hudson; children, Jessica Owensby (Gregg), Sara Burgess and Kim Dellinger (Ben); grandchildren, Jessalyn Shook (Eli), Grace Owensby, Anna Owensby, Daniel Tindall, Lawson Burgess, Emma Burgess and Zach Jones; great grandson, Easton Shook; sister, Julie Long Pettus; two nieces, Leah and Leslie Hedgpath; the greatest great Nanny to Connor Moss; a host of other family and friends, who will miss her deeply.

Funeral services will be held to honor Rhonda's remarkable life 2:00 pm on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Emmanuel Freewill Baptist Church, 208 N Spargo St. Dallas, NC, with Rev. Sherman Branch and Pastor David Murphy, officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm on Sunday at the church.

Rhonda's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she find peace as she watches over her loved ones from above.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents Grady and Toni Long; grandparents, Rev. Gaither and Betty Summitt, Emma Usery.
