Rev. James Edward Miracle

April 12, 1945 — February 9, 2026

James Edward Miracle, 80, went home to be with the Lord on February 9th, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bell County, KY, on April 12, 1945, to Dewey and Viola Miracle, James's life was defined by faith and fortitude from the very beginning. At just two years old, he contracted Polio, beginning a courageous two-year battle that would shape the resilient man he became. He is counted among the longest living polio survivors..

At the age of 17, James answered a divine calling to the ministry and was ordained in Farmington, MI. As a Baptist minister, he spent the rest of his life guided strictly by the Word of God. It was through his devotion to the church that he found his greatest earthly blessing: his wife, Brenda Mae Hoskins. Married on July 12, 1975, James and Brenda built a life centered on faith and music, raising two daughters and sharing their gift of song with local congregations. James wore his 50 years of marriage like a badge of honor, often boasting to anyone who would listen that he was still married to the love of his life.

James's passions were simple and profound: God, his beloved wife, Bluegrass music, and cars. To James, a perfect Sunday was spent between church services, gathered with extended family and friends, where the air was thick with the smell of good food and the ringing of banjos and guitars in songs of praise. He was a hero, a mentor, and a friend to many.

James is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda; his daughters, Loretta (Dennis) and Sherry; and his three grandchildren, Jazmyn (Nicklas), Desman, and Keira. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Viola and his siblings, Elmer, Juanita, and Deanna. He leaves behind a legacy of music, an unwavering commitment to the Word of God, and a family who will miss him until they meet again. He could never be forgotten.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
