Raymond Louis Manley Jr., 66, of Gastonia, sadly passed away on June 7, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

Born on March 12, 1959, in Gaston County, Raymond was a beloved son, brother, father, partner, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Raymond excelled in a career as a plant engineer and manager for 30+ years. A lifelong outdoorsman and avid hunter, who found peace in the woods, lived for crisp mornings in a tree stand, and cherished time spent at Whispering Pines Hunting Club where he served as President for 25 years.

Raymond is survived by his mother, Helen Gibson Manley; his sister, Teresa M. McSwain; and his brother, Darryl A. Manley (Sandi); his beloved partner, Cynthia Johnson; and was a proud father to Malissa Cabana, Michelle Malta (Michael), Kelly Greer (Brian), and Samantha Stevens.

Raymond found great joy in his grandchildren-Harrison Greer, Cecilia "Cece" Greer, and Jase Aldridge-who brought light and laughter to his days. He is also survived by his aunt, Alice Green; nephews Michael McSwain (Dana), Matthew McSwain (Amber), and Darryl Alexander Manley II (Brittany); niece Jennifer Nicholson (Brian); and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Manley Sr.; paternal grandparents, Birdie Faye Hampton Manley and Louis James Manley; maternal grandparents, Ruby Olena Whaley Gibson and John Wesley Gibson; and brother-in-law Philip Rodney McSwain.

The Celebration of Life service to honor Raymond Louis Manley Jr. will be held at First United Methodist Church, 5481 Hickory Grove Rd, Stanley, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Raymond L. Manley Jr. be made to the National Wildlife Federation.
