Ray Jackson Lail Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ray Jackson Lail Jr., who left us on February 20, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on November 18, 1967, in Gastonia, NC, Ray was a beloved son, devoted father, and a true friend to many.

Ray was a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle for many years and was a 1986 graduate of Bessemer City High School. A proud truck driver in the thread textiles industry, he was known as a "Jack of all trades" and had an incredible knack for working on cars. His love for everything American shone through in his interests, especially when it came to spending quality time with family at Carowinds or cheering for his favorite NASCAR drivers. Those who knew him will remember Ray not just for his skills, but for his big heart and the light he brought into every room.

Ray leaves behind his cherished son, Brett Lail (Tia), and his beloved daughter, Brittany Lail (Autumn Dean), as well as his supportive mother, Brenda Lail, a brother, Michael Lail (Beverly), sister, Cynthia Williams (Adam), grandchildren, Cassidy, Peyton, and Aiden, several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, mother-in-law, Helen Rayfield. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In honor of Ray's life, a funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm and will take place at Independent Baptist Tabernacle 2128 Dallas Cherryville Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034. Everyone who knew Ray is invited to join the family in celebrating his life and the joy he brought to so many. He will be laid to rest beside his late wife Kim in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on 6-8 pm Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, NC.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Ray Lail, Sr., his wife, Kim, grandparents, Ruben and Rachel Kiser, Jake Lail and Alma Hensley, father in-law, Roy Rayfield, Jr., brother-in-law, Norris Rayfield.
