Ray Farris

Ray Farris, 84, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

He was born July 4, 1939, in Gaston County, NC, to the late Ervin and Jennie Carpenter Farris.

Ray was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.  Ray attended Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, in Bessemer City, NC, for over 55 years and held many different offices in the church.  He loved being outside and gardening.  Ray retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 30 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Farris; son, Eric Farris; grandson, Austin Farris; brother, Roy Farris; and sister, Betty Jean Farris.

Ray is survived by his son, Darren Farris and wife, Selina; grandson, Seth Farris; and brother, Bobby Farris and wife, Martha.

A service to celebrate the life of Ray will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, 5306 Dallas-Cherryville Highway, Bessemer City, NC.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
