Rev. Ray W. England, 91, of Gastonia, passed away June 9, 2014 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. He was born, native of Gaston County, September 26, 1922, son of the late Luther and Lena England. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church. He retired from Firestone Mill after 19 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during WWII. Ray was a former pastor of Bingham Baptist Church before retiring as a pastor for Fraley Memorial Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Jerry Millwood. The family will receive friends 1:30 - 3:00 pm Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery. Ray is survived by his son, Curtis England and wife Patricia; daughter, Kay Lawrence and husband, Tim; grandchild, Stefani Hungate; step-grandchild, Patrick Camp; great-grandchildren, Kayla Hungate; step-great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Camp, Patrick Camp, Jr. and Landon Camp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of over 68 years, Gladys Davis England; brothers, Bill and Gene England; sister, Dot Baldwin and step-grandchild, Jamie Camp. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice (The Robin Johnson House) - PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054 Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
