Ray Cunningham

Ray Douglas Cunningham, 89, of Gastonia, passed away October 14, 2021, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

A Gaston County native, Ray was born June 29, 1932, to the late William and Bonnie Cunningham.

Mr. Cunningham was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Greene Cunningham; son, Doug Cunningham; daughter, Geneva Peaslee; brothers, James and Roy Cunningham; sisters, Margie Hutchins, Margaret Hill, Joyce Tate, and Nina Hendren.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Joel Ray Cunningham (Brenda); daughters, Ivana Aumann (Walt), Nikki Grisdale (Robbie), Yvonne Estrada, Lisa Hall (Vance); brother, Melvin Cunningham; sister, Betty Eckard; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Scott Whitener, will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 22, at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn St, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia

Entombment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
