Rashie "Pops" Wells Sanderson

Rashie "Pops" Wells Sanderson, 90, of Gastonia, NC, formerly of Kinston, NC, passed away Thursday at his residence. He was born December 19, 1924 in Duplin County, NC, son of the late Alsa and Debbie Nethercutt Sanderson. Rashie was a member of the Southwest PFWB Church. He was also a US Army veteran of WWII. He was employed with the Lenoir County School system for over 31 years. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 65 years Dot Sanderson; son, Glenn Sanderson and wife Sharon of Kinston, NC; daughter, Pat S. Murphy and husband Cecil of Gastonia; 3 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his brothers, Roscoe Sanderson, Forrest Sanderson; Sisters, Katie Boyette, Dunnie Albertson, Gertrude Craft, Lizzie Exum. A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm on Sunday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Walt Windley. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-2:45 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Special thanks to all the nurses and caregivers who have taken care of Mr. Sanderson for over 13 years. Also, a special thank you to Hospice of Lincoln County, and VA Home Base Primary Services.
