Randy "Gump" Spencer

Randy "Gump" Spencer, 66, of Bessemer City, passed away on November 7, 2021, at his home.

He was born August 3, 1955, in Gaston County, son of the late JL Spencer and Betty Faye Ramsey.

Randy was a member of South Marietta Baptist Church in Gastonia.

He retired from A & E Mills after 29 years of service.

He enjoyed working with the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Gastonia.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at South Marietta Baptist Church, 911 South Marietta Street, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Tommy Self.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Betty Jean Barneycastle Spencer; daughters, Crystal Tyler and husband Michael, Sally Hill and husband Jermaine, Sandy Spencer; grandchildren, Zachary McElhaney (Amber), Chancelor Ellis (Lauren), Seaerra Tyler, Jayson Tyler (Djenetou); great-grandchildren, Zoey McElhaney, Zaxton McElhaney, Izabellah Tyler, Sophia Britton.

The West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia is assisting the family.
