Randy Eugene Causby

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad, "Randy" Eugene Causby, on September 4, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on March 24, 1947, Randy resided in Bessemer City, NC his entire life and was a cherished member of the community.

Randy brought warmth and humor wherever he went. As a natural prankster, his main goal in any room was simply to make people laugh. His playful spirit and generous heart left an unmistakable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Our Dad loved fast cars, shooting pool, bowling, and playing cards.

Randy was a hardworking and loyal man who held only two jobs in his life. From 1965 to 1998 (33 years) he was a devoted employee of Lithium, where he also served on the Lithium Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee Board from 1994 to 2023, a 29-year commitment. From 1998 to 2020 (22 years) he served the City of Bessemer City in the Public Works Department. His friends around the city and the people he worked with meant the world to him, and if they ever needed him, he would work from sunup to sundown.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Bess Causby; his grandmother, Lula Mae Bess; his grandfather, Forest Bess; and his aunt, Polly Bess Hallman.

Randy is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Griffis (Randy) and Michelle Causby (Manda); five grandchildren, Roger Meadows (Kelli), Montana Johnson, Brittany Johnson (James), Heath Griffis (Shanna), and Heather Griffis (Jamie); and his 3 great grandchildren, Rayleigh, Cayden, and Haven.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, 1503 S York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052, starting at 2:00 pm. The service will follow at 3:00 pm , at the funeral home, officiated by Brother Jerry Millwood Jr.

In this time of sorrow, we remember our Dad,Pawpaw, and friend as a man who embraced life fully and touched the hearts of many. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in our memories.
