Randal Jay (Randy) Staggs, 48, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 31,2020, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on April 3, 1972, in Birmingham, AL to the late Gerald Staggs and Martha MacDonald Staggs.
He loved the Lord with all his heart and spent several years teaching in adult Sunday School classes and in Men's Ministries.
Randy and his family were recently welcomed as members of Promised Land Baptist Church of Gastonia, NC.
He loved spending time in the mountains, riding his Harley, and fishing; but his favorite pastime was time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
A man of many talents, there was nothing Randy couldn't design, build, or repair and he used those gifts to provide for his family and to help others. He used these abilities in his businesses, Southern Pride Construction, and for the past 12 years, as owner of Pro-to-Call Playground Services.
Randy will be greatly missed but his legacy will live on in the lives of everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Rhonda Parkin. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife,of 19 years, Rebecca Bates Staggs; daughters, Lyndsay (Justin) McDermott and Hannah Staggs, and sons, Joshua France and Jackson Staggs; grandchildren, Riley, Logan, and Kennedy McDermott; sisters, Debbie McKenzie and Debra Bedford; brothers, Roy and Rick Bedford; mother-in-law, Bunnie Bates; brother-in-law, Tom Bates; "adoptive" mother, Nancy Newman; and aunt, Bobbie Bates.
A service to celebrate Randy's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Promised Land Baptist Church, Pastor Harold Blankenship officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 12:30pm - 2:00pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Promised Land Baptist Church, 1024 Old Modena Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054. Masks and social distancing will be respected.
