Rachel Brown Penland

Rachel Brown Penland, 74, of Dallas, passed away May 18, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

A native of Gaston County, she was born June 3, 1943, daughter of the late Fred and Lula McMahan Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Penland; brothers, Perry Brown and Junior Brown; sisters, Mabel Lail, Lucille Irvin, Judy Haney, and Irene Poole.

Rachel is survived by her brother, Richard Brown; daughter, Delta Dawn Penland; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Shannon Williams, will be held 2 pm Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
