Rachel Pressley Orendorff

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Rachel Pressley Orendorff's passing on July 5, 2025, at the age of 85. Rachel was born on March 3, 1940, in Gastonia, North Carolina, and made her home in Gastonia, where she lived a vibrant life filled with love and laughter.

Rachel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was dedicated in the textile industry, known for her hard work and leadership, retiring from R.L. Stowe Mills. She was a proud graduate from Ashley Highschool, and Presbyterian School of Nursing, where she brought passion to everything she did. But more than her career, Rachel was cherished for her unwavering love and support for her family. Her hobbies included cooking meals for family, gardening, UNC Tarheels, Carolina Panthers, raising and caring for exotic birds, hosting for family gatherings, and making candy.

She leaves behind her beloved parents, Samuel Pressley, and Pearl Pressley; husband, Ronald Orendorff; siblings, Jim (James) Pressley, Thelma Smith, and Faye Haney; and children, Kelvin McCarthy, Gwendolyn Allen, and Chuc Clubb;

Rachel is survived by her grandchildren, Amber Spencer (Byron), and Jason McCarthy (Marcia); great-grandchildren, Caris McCarthy, Conor McCarthy, and Koda Spencer; several nephews; and special angel, Rebecca Goble.

A special memorial service will be held in Rachel's honor, where family and friends can come together to celebrate her remarkable life. Details about the time and location of the service will be shared soon.
