Phyllis Cable Gunning

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Cable Gunning, who left us peacefully on March 8, 2026. Born on January 10, 1950, in Gastonia, NC, Phyllis was a lifelong resident of this charming community, where her warmth and spirit touched everyone she met.

Phyllis dedicated 46 years of her life to Wix Filters, where she worked diligently in quality control. Her colleagues will remember her not just for her work ethic but also for her kindness and the camaraderie she fostered in the workplace. She was a member of Evangel Assembly of God in Gastonia and also attended the Place Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Willie Cable; daughters, Staci Leah Lipscomb and Jama Lynn Arnold; brother, Glenn Cable.

Phyllis is survived by her grandchildren, Dustin Lipscomb, Hollis Lipscomb, Megan Lipscomb, Carley Lipscomb;  great-grandchildren, Iliana, Julian, Christian, Trinity, Ireyanna, Javaeh, Mason, Levi, Amiyah, Saniyah, Rylee, Londyn, Braylen; sisters, Betty Lewis and Barbara Hawkins; her best friend who she loved like a daughter, Shirley Edwards; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to gather on March 13, 2026, at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel for visitation at 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM.
