Phillip Nelson McDonald Jr., 61, of Gastonia, passed away September 26, 2019, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

He was born October 10, 1957, in Gaston County, son of the late Phillip Nelson McDonald Sr. and Nellie Mae McDonald.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Gastonia. He was employed with Wix Filters for over 43 years.

Phillip played Santa Claus every year, and he did that for many children. He enjoyed participating in various toy runs.

A celebration of life will be held   6:00 pm on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Robin Harris

Phillip is survived by his girlfriend of over 15 years, Debbie "Deb" Hill and her daughters, Cindy Huss and Miranda Lackey who were like his own and their children;  son, Gregory Eugene Stokes; grandson, Gregory "Tyler" Stokes;  beloved great – granddaughter, Madison Grace Stokes;  sister, Vickie Heffner, little sister, Becky McDonald, baby sister, Dana McDonald Grant; brother, Roland C. McDonald; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Lee Walden, Jerry Lamar McDonald, Michael Ray McDonald; grandparents, Dewey and Zola Ramsey.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Faith Baptist Church 1102 W. Walnut Avenue Gastonia, NC 28052.
