Phillip Wayne Currence

Phillip Wayne Currence transitioned Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his residence in Gastonia, NC. Our beloved brother and father was born in Gaston County to the late Charlie Enlow Currence and Sarah Elizabeth Torrence Currence. Phillip was a graduate of Reid High School and after graduation he was drafted into the Armed Forces where he was stationed in Korea. Phillip enjoyed watching and analyzing all types of sports, our own "Bob Costas". In his early years he enjoyed teaching his kids and grandkids golf and tennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Sarah Currence, and his brothers, Charles Evon Currence and Richard Allen Currence. Phillip leaves to cherish three children, Mark Wayne Currence (Estelle), Orlanda Currence and Angie Currence Toms. Phillip also leaves to cherish three brothers, Jimmy Lee Currence (Joreida), Kenneth Edkirk Currence, Ray Haskel Currence (Saundra); two sisters, Brenda Currence Barnett (Ronald) and Jackie M. Currence and two sister in laws, Barbara Currence and Dorothy Currence. Phillip also leaves to cherish all of his grand, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
