Peggy Rowland

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Peggy Yearwood Rowland, who left us peacefully on December 6, 2025, at the age of 87. Peggy was born on April 1, 1938, in Gastonia, NC, where she lived her entire life, creating a legacy filled with love, creativity, and community spirit.

Peggy was not just a mother to her children, but also a pillar of the Gastonia community. A proud founder of the Church of Christ in Gastonia, she dedicated her life to nurturing her faith and empowering others. Her passion for leadership development earned her numerous awards through her work with the Lucille Tatum Center Homemakers Center, where she inspired countless individuals in their personal and professional journeys. She also served as a realtor and broker for many years.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Peggy was a vibrant soul with a remarkable artistic flair. She found joy in ceramic painting, often spending hours lost in her creative endeavors, producing beautiful works that brought happiness to those around her.

Peggy is survived by her children, Linda Rowland Swanger (David), Donna Rowland Hyche (Chris), Janet Rowland McIntyre (David) and Mike Rowland (Lane); grandchildren, Josh Swanger (Megan), Heather Hyche Harper (Matt), Britney Swanger Oakley (Paul), Abbie Leigh Hyche and Macy Lane Rowland; great grandchildren, Carter Swanger, Aniston Oakley, Rowland Swanger, Brooke Oakley, Lillie Swanger, Alden Harper and Chandler Oakley; sister, Margaret Cornwell.

Peggy's spirit and kindness will be celebrated during her funeral service, set to take place at the Church of Christ in Gastonia on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM., She will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park, 10:00 AM on Wednesday.

Peggy's warmth, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Don Rowland; parents Lex "LH" Yearwood, Evelyn Keever Yearwood; brother, Richard Yearwood.
