Pauline Duncan

Pauline W. Duncan (Polly), 82, of Gastonia, NC, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at her residence.

Polly was the youngest of eight children born to Richard and Lela Martin Wilson on December 14, 1943.

She had a strong love for her family. She enjoyed being surrounded by all of them. They all have many fond memories of trips, adventures and fun times spent together with her. She taught them all to have fun, enjoy life and love Jesus. She loved all animals especially horses. She had a special fondness for her grandgoat, Goatie and her dog, Hank. Polly loved the Lord Jesus and had a very strong faith. She loved talking about and sharing Jesus with others. She was as a member of Sandy Plains Baptist church and attended regularly until her health began to decline.

Polly is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Bobby R. Duncan; her children, Susan Poteat (Bobby), Marshall Boheler (Barbara), Jeffrey Duncan (Denise), Gerald Duncan (Michelle); eight grandchildren: Chad Poteat (Katie), Joshua Duncan, Corey Poteat, Phillip Boheler (Sarah), Haley Wright ( Trevor), Lindsey Boheler, Alex Duncan, Aaron Duncan; seven great grandchildren, Kinley, Grey, Beckham, Charlie and Haddie Wright, Lyla and Banks Boheler; her sister/best friend and confidant Gladys Pearson; two brothers, Richard Wilson, Jr. and John Mason Wilson; sister Martha Jo Morgan.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Laura Mae Wilson; two brothers Avery Wilson and Arvil Wilson.

She will be greatly missed but the lessons she taught, and her faith will live on through those that were blessed to love and be loved by her.

A funeral service officiated by Reverend Justin Schultz will be held Monday, January 12, 2026, 2:30 PM, at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, 5323 Union Road, Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 at the church. Polly will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
