Dallas, NC - Paul Reid Melton, Sr., 65, of Dallas passed away June 5, 2014 at his residence. He was born August 25, 1948, native of Gaston County, son of the late Lona Mae McCrary and step-father, Homer Francum. Paul was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Gastonia. His family was always first in his life and he just adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and football and was an avid Panther's Fan. A funeral service will be held 3 pm on Monday at Grace Baptist Church -2200 Auten Rd, Gastonia, officiated by Pastors, Clarence "Mackey" McMahan and Joseph Hensley. The family will receive friends 1 - 2:45 pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ann Hornsby Melton; son, Paul Reid Melton, Jr. and wife, Susan of Alaska; special brother, Glenn Melton and wife, Lois of Dallas; brothers, David Francum and wife, Sandra of Georgia, Ronnie Francum and wife, Debbie of Gastonia; sisters Faye Parker of Dallas, Peggy Moore of Gastonia; grandchildren, Auston, Chase and Tripp Melton; special friends, Robert and Doris Lemons and Steve and Diane Hicks. In addition to his mother and step-father he was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Kyle Melton; sister, Brenda Melton; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Red Hornsy and his beloved dog, Princess.
