Paul "Floyd" Griffin, Jr.

September 20, 1958 — October 17, 2015

Paul "Floyd" Griffin, Jr., 57, of Gastonia, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at his home. He was born September 20, 1958, in Bangor, ME, son of Paul Floyd Griffin, Sr. and Mary Louise Lufkin Griffin. Floyd was a godly man with a wonderful sense of humor and this was shown by his devotion to his wife and children. He served his church, Christ Alive, serving in many ways, encouraging others and showing God's love to all. Throughout his illness his life showed the truth of God's Word in II Corinthians 4:16-18, "That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever." Floyd was a member of Christ Alive Church in Newton, NC. He graduated from Faith School of Theology. Along with his parents, left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 34 years, Renee Griffin; sons, Paul Floyd Griffin III and wife, Brittany, Jesse Thomas Griffin; daughters, Rebekah Anne Povone and husband, Justen, Rachel Lynn Keller and husband, Paul; brother, Stan Harland Griffin and wife, Emile; sister, Linda Jean Handzel; grandchildren, Isaiah and Landon Griffin and Jack Keller. A funeral service will be held 11am on Saturday at Christ Alive, 1549 Southwest Blvd, Newton, officiating Pastor Mark Ivey. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment is private. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia. Condolences may be made online at greenefuneral.com.
