Paul Jennings Carawan

Paul Jennings Carawan, 77, of Gastonia, NC, Passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Pamlico County, NC, on December 16, 1946, to the late Charles and Mae Bell Carawan.

Paul was a US Navy Vietnam War veteran. He also had an engineering degree and was employed for several years at Wix Corporation. He was also a truck driver for many years, also teaching truck drivers' school. For a few years he attended Bright Light Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents Paul was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher Dean Carawan; grandson, Christopher Carawan; great-grandson, Cullen Rayfield; brothers, John Carawan and Daniel Carawan.

Paul is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lauretta Jenkins Carawan; son, Charles Carawan; stepson, Rodney Rayfield (Robin); stepdaughter, Ginger Bryant (Allen); sister-in-law, Linda Carawan; grandchildren, Tyler Carawan, Colt Rayfield (Kim), Cody Rayfield (Kelsey), Brandon Rayfield (Angel), Cheyenne Bryant, Autumn Bryant, James Bryant; great-grandchildren, Rosemary, Clyde, Stetson.

All service will be private.
