In Loving Memory of Patricia Moreland Wang

Patricia Moreland Wang- formally known as Pam in childhood and Pat into adulthood. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the age of 82, after living with Parkinson's disease.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ao Wang, and is survived by her three daughters-Liz, Barbie, and Suzy-along with a large and loving extended family.

Born and raised in West Virginia, Pat built a life rooted in care, curiosity, and quiet strength. She spent her career as an elementary school librarian in Maryland, where she nurtured generations of young readers and cultivated a lifelong love of learning. After retirement, she settled in North Carolina, surrounded by loved ones.

Pat-known affectionately and insistently as "Gram" to just about everyone-was deeply kind, and had a way of turning strangers into family. She was fearless and lived life exactly her own way: authentic, bold, and always purple. She was passionate about social justice and endlessly curious about the world. Whether she was learning about new cultures, diving into family histories, or tending to her garden, Gram gave everything her best go.

She was a thoughtful neighbor and a kindred spirit to many-firm in her convictions, generous of heart, and deeply engaged with the issues that mattered. Her friendships were marked by warmth, depth, and genuine connection.

She found joy in books, craft projects, and the companionship of her pets. Her presence was a steady source of honesty, compassion, and unwavering generosity and curiosity.

Even in her final hours, Gram remained fiercely herself- determined, thoughtful, and deeply attuned to the world around her. One of her last requests was to have NPR playing, so she could stay connected to the world right up to her final moments.

Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched-with every story read aloud, every flower planted, and every act of kindness shared in her name.

We would like to add that in lieu of flowers people are encouraged to donate to her favorite radio station WFAE, but the radio station does not have a way to record the donations so that we can thank people.
