Patricia Holland

Patricia Holland, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the age of 91 years-old.

She was called Ms. Patricia by the nursing staff that cared for her each day.  She was born on December 29, 1929 in Towanda, Pennsylvania to the late Robert and Rebecca Bruce Cummings.  She lost both of her parents before the age of six years old.  She and her four brothers moved to Charlottesville, Virginia; where they were raised by their maternal grandmother.  Ms. Patricia remained in Virginia until she met her first husband.  They moved to Miami, Florida.

Ms. Patricia had four brothers (Robert, Richard, and Joe – all older and proceeding her in death).  And then her younger brother Alfred who lives in Marietta, Ohio.  She had four children:  Rebecca (Ottawa, Canada), Peggy (Waverly, Tennessee), Paul (Lowell, NC), and then Bruce (deceased in 2012).   She has several grandchildren (Tisha, Matthew, Kurt, Ryan, Kelsey, and Danny) and two great-grandchildren (Layla and Summer).

Ms. Patricia had a stroke in 2006 and had several lingering effects from it, along with more recent issues from congestive heart failure, COPD, and early onset dementia.  She remained somewhat active until this year, where she has slowly declined to bed level of care.

She has been under skilled nursing care for the past 3.5 years.   The nurses have said that Ms. Patricia was stubborn, had a dry sense of humor, and was the true epitome of a southern lady.  There are countless stories that, when told, will make anyone smile.  She was definitely an entertainer.

The family has chosen not to have a formal service.  Instead they will celebrate mom's life during a private family gathering.  Ms. Patricia's ashes will be spread at the family cemetery near the home she was raised in near Charlottesville, Virginia.
