It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pastor Roger Lee Huffstetler, of Clover, South Carolina, who departed this life on September 24, 2025. Born on October 14, 1948, in Gastonia, North Carolina, Roger dedicated his life to serving others through his work as a pastor within the Pentecostal Church.
Roger's spiritual journey began in earnest as he served as a youth pastor and evangelist, ultimately becoming a beloved church pastor who fostered deep connections within his community. His passion for spreading the Gospel took him to Ghana, Africa, where he made significant contributions by helping to establish five churches, touching countless lives along the way.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Roger proudly served his country from January 22, 1968, until August 5, 1968. His commitment to service extended beyond his military duty and into his lifelong vocation of ministry.
Roger is survived by his devoted wife, Linda R. Huffstetler, who was his partner in faith and life; sons, Reginald Lee Huffstetler, Roger Alexander Huffstetler, Roger Lee Huffstetler, II, CDR (RET), USN; bonus son, Kelvin Warren Taylor; goddaughters, Jessie Noel Bowie, and Destinee Ciera Pettis; bonus goddaughter, Katherine Craig; brothers, Ronald D. Huffstetler, and David W. Huffstetler; sister, Jan S. Huffstetler; grandchildren, Brittany, Douglas, Spencer, Madilynn, Olivia, and Emma Huffstetler; and great-granddaughter, Alayna Sheffield.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Huffstetler and Luci Huffstetler; and sister, Johnsie Hailey.
Funeral services will be held at Southside Baptist Church - 530 Bethany Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052, on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM, where family, friends, and members of the community will gather to celebrate Roger's life and legacy. A visitation will take place at the same location on September 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Following the services, Roger will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park - 1200 S New Hope Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
