Pastor Willie Harry Minger, Sr. 73, of Ridgeway, S.C. transitioned out of his early body on June 16, 2022 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Aldersgate in Charlotte, NC.
He was born on February 10, 1949. Pastor Willie Minger was affectionately known by many as Brother Minger or Mr. Minger. He was the son of Elizabeth Robertson Metz and Richard Minger, Sr.
Brother Minger attended Fairfield County Schools in South Carolina. He went on to work for Norfolk Southern Railway and diligently took care of his family. Brother Minger was an ordained minister and loved his calling to Pastor and Preach at The Holy House of Prayer in Gastonia, NC. Brother Minger was certainly a true servant of God and loved God with his whole heart. His faith was always unmovable even in his last hours. He was caring and always made himself available to serve people. He had a genuine heart, and always saw the best in others. Brother Minger was one of the rare jewels that truly enjoyed people and the simple things in life. He loved his family and showed it with actions, not just words. Brother Minger was extremely proud to be a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Minger; mother; Elizabeth Robertson Metz; father, Richard Minger Sr; brother, Richard Minger Jr.; brother, Solomon Minger Sr.; son, Marion McElwaine Sr.; and Grandson, Joshua Fleming.
Brother Minger's memories will forever be cherished. He is survived by his son, Willie Minger, Jr. (Angie) of Gastonia, N.C.; daughter, Tasha Minger (Nate) of Charlotte, NC; and son, Nathan Minger, Sr. (Erica) of Lincolnton, N. C.; Grandchildren, Brandi McElwaine, Marion McElwaine Jr. (Shana) Ja'Shayla Fleming, Jeremiah Fleming, Jaylen Minger, Amauri Minger and Nathan Minger Jr.; Sisters: Mrs. Burnell Laurent of Brooklyn, New York, Mrs. Marjorie Minger-Parker of Charlotte, N.C., Ms. Nancy Minger (Gary) of Ridgeway, S.C., Mrs. Detris Delphine Chapman (Carlton) of Charlotte, N.C., Miss Deronda Delphine Metz of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers: Mr. Cleveland Minger (Mae Bell) of Ridgeway, S.C., Mr. Ronald Metz (Vanessa) of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Quiet hour will be held 12-12:30pm on Friday, June 24, 2022, at City of David Church – 2500 Crescent Ln, Gastonia, NC 28052. Service will follow at 12:30pm, officiated by Apostle David Littlejohn. Burial will follow the service at York Memorial Park, Charlotte, NC, with no procession.
