Novie Lee Wilson, 73, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Novie was born in Enterprise, Ala., on July 8, 1940. She moved to Gastonia in 1962 after marrying Ralph Wilson, who called her "Nova Sue" until the day he died, 38 years later. She was an avid drinker of Diet Pepsi and fan of George Jones. She was a nurse for more than 40 years, but could have also made a living making chicken and dumplings and the world's best eggos. Novie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and active in the Young at Heart Club. When she wasn't watching Days of Our Lives, Law and Order or some of her "young'uns," you might find her out and about with one of her best friends, Mary Deal or Frances Ledford. She was a perfect and fun Granny, the best Mom and to those lucky enough, a great friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wilson; her parents, Cecil and Adele Lee; four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Welch and husband, Phil, Laura Brack and husband, Bryant, and Kim McCraw and husband, Lee, all of Gastonia; her son, Tommy Wilson and wife, Jenny, of Gastonia; her stepdaughter, Tavia Bowers and husband, Kelly, of York, S.C.; her grandchildren Casey, Hannah and Jake Welch, Abby, T and Drew Brack, Nathan, Nevin and Nick Wilson, Addie, Cooper, Jase and Reid McCraw, Bucky Trimnal and Dawn Good; great-grandchildren Justin and Whitney Good; and sisters, Peggy Howell and Elaine Royer, both of New Brockton, Ala. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8pm Monday, July 22, 2013 at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. The funeral service for Novie will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 York Hwy., Gastonia. Pastor Josh Glandon will officiate the service. Entombment will be at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum.
