Norman Ray Long

Norman Ray Long, 85, of Gastonia, passed away January 17, 2016 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.

He was born January 15, 1931, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Steve and Ruby Long.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of over 34 years, Margaret Long; daughter, Sandra Shull of Leland; step-son, Leon Kirkland and wife Mary of Myrtle Beach, SC; step-daughter, Elaine Kirkland of Gastonia; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ray Long; step-daughter, Connie Robinson; step-grandson, David Robinson; step-granddaughter, Keisha Kirkland and brother, Donald Lewis Long.

A memorial service will be held 3 pm Monday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Leroy Mobley.

The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
