Nolan Taylor

Nolan Taylor, 81, of Bessemer City, passed away on September 13, 2021, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

He was born April 28, 1940, in Lenoir County, NC , son of the late Ernest Alfred Taylor and Melinda Pike Taylor.

Nolan was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Gastonia, where he previously was the minister of music and also served as a deacon. After many years of service, Nolan retired from the Gastonia Police Department as a detective with internal affairs. He had a passion for anything piano related, whether it was playing or working on them.

In addition to his parents, Nolan was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Chris Shepard; his daughter Theresa Shepard, who passed only hours after her dad.

Nolan is survived by his loving wife, Martha Taylor;  daughters, Sherry Frady (David), Deborah Shepard (Mark); grandchildren, Allana Taylor, Lauren Shepard, Dylan Shepard, Lyndsey Shepard, Logan Shepard, Jacob Taylor, Olivia Frady; great-granddaughter, Ray Leigh Church.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, September 24, 2021, at Catawba Heights Baptist Church, 311 Belmont Road, Belmont, officiated by Rev. Rodney Whaley.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia.

Burial will be at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City, with honors provided by the Gastonia Police Department Honor Guard.
