Nettie Lorraine Herdman

On Monday, October 31st, Nettie Lorraine Herdman, a beloved Mother, went to be with the Lord at the age of 83, surrounded by her family in her home that she dearly loved.

Nettie lived her life to serve the Lord and her family. Her heart's desire was to raise her children knowing the love of Christ. As a mother, she put herself last and sacrificed so much for the happiness of her family. Her face would light up at the sight of her grandchildren and she loved all the babies dearly. She always had a song on her lips and a prayer in her heart for her loved ones. Spending time in the mountains to see the changing of the seasons was something dear to her. The spring brought her favorite roses to bloom, summer brought the butterflies, the changing of colors in the fall, and the twinkling lights in winter. Her favorite place though was sitting in church. Her church family was just as precious to her as her family. We are blessed to have had our lives touched by such a remarkable woman.

Nettie is preceded in death by her parents John & Viola Killian, siblings, Mildred Crump, Betty Helms, Julia Pennington, Edward Killian, and her late husband Wesley Stacks.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Dallas Herdman. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicky Dial (Sandy), Diane O'Brian (Bob) and Shirley Kinney (Loral), Wesley Stacks (Sarah), Ronald Stacks (Vickie), Karen Moats, and son Tom (Belva). She had 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandchild.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor David Pollard will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, at 12:00 noon, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, NC.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery – West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208.
