Nell Ramsey

Nell Ramsey, 78, of Gastonia, passed away November 23, 2013 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. A native of Pilkey's Creek in Swain County, she was born March 31, 1935, to the late Eva Pilkington. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Junie Pilkington. Nell was a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church in Gastonia and worked for Harris Teeter for over 30 years. The family would like to express a special appreciation to Dr. Steven Yates and his staff, Dr. Perry Shin of Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital, the nurses at Caromont Regional Medical Center, and the staff of the Kings Mountain Hospice House for the compassionate they provided to Nell during her illness. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her loving husband of over 57 years, Grier Ramsey of the home; sons, Tim Ramsey and wife Jennifer of Gastonia, Mike Ramsey and wife Leann of Robbinsville, NC; brother, Dr. Fred Pilkington and wife Annette of Concord, NC; sister, Bobbie Holland and husband David of Gastonia; nieces, Melissa Holland, Jennifer Pilkington, and Hannah Pilkington; nephews, Will Holland and Nathan Pilkington; grandchildren, Ethan Ramsey and Lauren Ramsey; great-nephew, Zachary Holland. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Roger Overton, Rev. Will Holland, and Rev. Noah Crowe will be held 2 pm Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cancer Services of Gaston County, 306 S. Columbia St., Gastonia, NC 28054 or Chapel Grove Baptist Church, 716 Camp Rotary Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
