Nancy "Louise" Spencer Thompson beloved wife, Godly mother, grandmother, great-grandmother passed away at home November 29, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Cherokee County, NC on March 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Fannie Dye Spencer and Albert Robert Spencer. Louise married the love of her life and best friend James "Jim" Thompson in 1954 and on October 30, 2014, celebrated 60 years of true love and devotion. She retired from Ti-Caro. She loved her family and the Atlanta Braves. She is survived by her husband James Thompson of 60 years; sons, James "Dean" Thompson and wife Gina of Gastonia, William "Bill" Thompson of Dallas; daughters, Anita Thompson Parise and husband Dennis of Morganton, Pam Thompson Hoffman and husband Todd of Bessemer City; grandchildren, Jeff Thompson and wife Beth, Erica Hoffman Kelly and husband Brad, Spencer Hoffman, and Adam Fowler; great-grandchildren, Madison and Paylin Kelly, Kinsley Hoffman, Matt and Ava Thompson; sisters, Betty Meadows of Bessemer City, Diann Rimmer and husband Rick, Jenny Grayson of Gastonia, Lena Slaughter and husband Steve of Danville, VA; brothers, Robert Spencer and wife Ann, and the late Roy Spencer and wife Lisa of Gastonia; extended family, Kevin, Donna, JJ, Nellie, Ronnie and Katie Giles, and Roy and Shirley Phillips. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 pm Monday at Independent Baptist Tabernacle, 2128 Dallas Cherryville Hwy, Dallas. A celebration of life will be held 1 pm Tuesday at the church with Rev. Ralph Carver officiating. Interment will follow at the Westview Gardens Cemetery, Bessemer City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984 Gastonia, NC 28054 or Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
