Nancy Mahalah Hallman Stafford

Nancy Mahalah Hallman Stafford, a beloved mother, grandmother, and talented musician, passed away peacefully from natural causes on November 4, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on December 23, 1933, in McAdenville, NC, she spent her life bringing joy and creativity to those around her.

Nancy was a devoted member of Unity Baptist Church, Gastonia. She played the piano and organ for many years. Her musical talents were cherished at Lowell First Baptist Church, Lowell NC and also at Lakeview Baptist Church, McAdenville NC, Nichols Baptist Church, Nichols, SC and Horseshoe Baptist Church, Horseshoe NC, where her husband, Jackie "Jack" Stafford, served as Pastor. Together, they shared over 65 wonderful years of marriage.

Nancy had a knack for all things crafty. Whether she was smocking, quilting, sewing, or crocheting, she poured her heart into every creation. She made countless smock dresses for children and vintage cross-stitch stockings that will be treasured by her family for years to come.

She is survived by her children; son, Dineen Stafford (Pam); her daughter, Cindy Stroupe (David); her brothers, Fred Hallman, Jr. (Kay) and Jim Hallman (Trilby); her sister, Rachel Rankin (Olin (dec)); as well as her adored grandchildren: Tera Stafford Francis (Ben), Bethany Stafford Jeffers (Daniel), Mary-Catherine Stroupe Cochran (Brooks), and Caroline Stroupe Edwards (Daniel). Nancy was also the proud great-grandmother of Elijah "Eli" Stafford Francis, Haddon Sammuel Francis, Addison-Claire "AC" Joan Francis, Harper Leigh Jeffers, Kohen Rhett Jeffers, Charlotte Katherine Francis, Millie Kate Jeffers, and Catherine "Kate" Winfield Cochran.

Nancy was preceded in death by her Loving husband Jack and her parents, Fred Hallman Sr., and Ruth Hallman.

Funeral services will be held to honor Nancy's life officiated by Rev. Todd Hallman and Rev. Dr. Ben Francis, Monday, November 10, 2025 2:00pm at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052. Family will receive friends 1:00-1:45 prior to the service. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery - Belmont, NC.

Nancy will be dearly missed but her legacy of love, creativity, and music will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
