Nancy George

Nancy George, 85, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, under hospice at The Ivy, Gastonia, NC.

She was born December 6, 1937, a native of Gaston Co, NC, daughter of the late Grady and Ruth Barker.

Nancy attended Ranlo Baptist Church, and formerly attended Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. Nancy was a loving, caring person – who cared for others first before caring for herself. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was the glue that held the family together. Nancy LOVED the Atlanta Braves. She volunteered at the Robin Johnson House for over 14 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Gene" George; and brother, Bill Barker.

Nancy is survived by her son, Ronnie George; daughters, Beverly Christenbury and husband Jim, and Karen Thompson and husband Greg; grandchildren, Paige Mosier, Kyle Thompson, Matt Christenbury, Jennifer Ledford, Angie Meador, Travis George, and Wesley George; and 10 great-grandchildren.
